WA: Minor court victory for man suing TAB

PERTH, Aug 24 AAP - A gambler trying to sue the TAB after losing $4 million, enjoyed
a minor victory today when a Perth court ruled he did not have to provide details of every
bet he had placed.

Prominent Perth jeweller Craig Rosendorff claimed he had lost the money because the
TAB had illegally let him bet on credit between June 1995 and April 1998.

Earlier this year the West Australian Supreme Court ruled he did not have to provide
details of every bet, but that decision was challenged by lawyers for the TAB, who said
it was important to establish whether each bet had been made on credit.

Today the Full Court of the Supreme Court ruled it would be impossible for Mr Rosendorff
to detail each of the tens of thousands of bets he had made in the specified period.

Justices Michael Murray and Geoffrey Miller said the TAB's case would not suffer without
knowing details of every bet.

No date has yet been set for the trial.
