NSW: Firefighters get brief reprieve as they fight Bathurst fire

Cooler weather has provided some relief for firefighters trying to contain a blaze
near Bathurst in central western New South Wales.

Two farmers suffered serious burns and were flown to a Sydney hospital as other residents
were evacuated when the bushfire flared up in the town of Vittoria yesterday afternoon.

It's now burnt out more than 12 hundred hectares.

Rural Fire Services spokesman BEN SHEPHERD says conditions eased overnight when a cool
change came through and winds dropped .. but it's set to warm up again and severe conditions
are expected.

About 100 fires are burning across the state .. and a total fire ban is in force in
the central ranges .. northern slopes .. northwestern and upper central west plains.
