Mysore, Jan. 7 -- Mercedez Benz buses which had been reserved for the State's capital have now come to Mysore. The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has gifted the luxury buses to commuters of the city for the New Year.
Two Benz buses are plying on selected routes of Mysore city for the past four days. The buses presently run on the routes between Chamundi Hill & Infosys.
The luxury bus, commanding a price tag of Rs. 75 lakh, has been introduced on the above route keeping in mind tourists and the techies, on a trial basis. Although the bus is high on its price, the tariff for the journey is not so. In particular, those who spend three-digit sums for travelling by autorickshaws, will find the bus journey a new experience.
The seating in the newly introduced buses is also wider compared to all other buses including Volvo which are familiar to commuters. The Benz bus has a capacity to carry 38 passengers and is air-conditioned.
A digital tele screen is also part of the luxury features of the bus. There is also provision to provide WiFi internet facility in the bus, which is powered by a 250 HP engine. It moves almost noiselessly and has low floor feature. It is proposed to expand the Benz service to 20 routes shortly.
